Not just one but two guns from the historic Browning manufacturer have just arrived! We take a look at this gorgeous pair of small gauge guns....

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the famous Browning name. Most of their guns are manufactured in Japan and are known for their superb build quality and reliability. Moving up to their higher grades being are true works of art, the assembly is carried out in Belgium at the custom shop as has been for generations. Almost everything down to the finest detail is carried out by craftsmen’s hands and after many long hours the finished article is produced. This is the journey that has seen our stunning D5G’s go from raw materials to their luxurious finished state. The journey from start to finish has taken over three years, but it has certainly been worth the long wait. Let’s see some of the details that are unique to that famous Browning name.

The action on all Browning shotguns are known for their depth. This gives an ultra strong lockup to withstand years of use in the field. Not only that but it also gives a large area for master engravers to show their pure talent, decorating them from fine scroll work to lavish gamescenes. If you look closely you will find the engravers signature, giving an even more personal touch to the gun they have worked on. On opening and closing the gun the gape is as good as you can get from any manufacture. For those of you who aren’t sure what this is, it refers to the clearance of the bottom barrel from the action face for loading cartridges. The barrels unlike other manufacturers will not rock back allowing loading and unloading to be much easier.

A feature totally unique to Browning on their B25 range is the three piece forend. Usually the forend detaches from the barrel completely when coming away but not with this design. On the three piece forend it stays in place on the barrel but being in three separate sections. The middle part slides back allowing the gun to be disassembled but stays in place on the barrel, quite a marvel of engineering you either love or hate.

Something often overlooked or missed is the famous Browning teardrops. A very time consuming but aesthetically pleasing addition behind the action faces on both cheeks of the stock it sits with pride, having a complete realistic and 3d effect. Although an additional upgrade to the order it wouldn’t be right to have any high grade Browning without it’s characteristic teardrops.

As if the deep action isn’t enough of an area to display a further feature adds to both the guns looks and functionality. The tang and trigger guard area are extended back to the grip itself, adding extra strength between stock and action as well as more area for the engravers to add their artistic flair.

Being a factory pair of guns these D5G’s need to be easily identified from one another by their owner. With the stocks and actions almost identical this can be rather hard to do at a glance. The factory has added timeless roman numerals in Gold inlay on the actions and barrels “I” & “II” to make sure that simply can’t happen. The hard part is making sure you don’t end up with a favourite....you wouldn’t want that!

The wood as you can see is simply stunning. Selected not only for it’s aesthetic qualities but also for its strength, handling properties and its density which makes sure both guns feel equally as well balanced as each other. It’s hard to believe we selected these very blanks over 3 years ago but it is so rewarding recognising that same grain transformed into a hand sculpted pair of stocks. To finish them off a Browning shield has been inlaid on the top of the stocks and kick-eeze pads fitted to make even the most enduring days shooting feel a day at ease.
